Virtual Colonoscopy

"As I neared 50, I became more anxious about the inevitable colonoscopy. Even though I knew that it was important to
have, I nevertheless imagined every possible delay to avoid it.
Then I heard about an innovative new procedure - the virtual colonoscopy.Things are better, now.

CT technology, combined with sophisticated computer software, has led to a remarkable development in colorectal screening now available at Iowa Radiology.

In essence, the computer transforms cross section images of the digestive track into 3D pictures. This innovative procedure does not require anesthesia and is non invasive when compared to the conventional colonoscopy.

Although virtual colonoscopy is not currently covered by most third-party health coverage, including Medicare, we believe that, because of its accuracy and lower costs, it soon will be. Virtual colonoscopy will be billed as an office visit, usually requiring a co-pay instead of an outpatient procedure and usually requiring the payment of a hospital deductible.
